EPHRAIM?? Snow College will play in the inaugural Carrier Dome Bowl which features the NJCAA?s third- and fourth-ranked teams. The game will be played Dec. 1 in Syracuse, N.Y., in the Carrier Dome on the campus of Syracuse University. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
The matchup was announced Friday by the Northeast Football Conference which will host the event.
ASA (Brooklyn, N.Y.), the nation?s third-ranked team and Northeast Football Conference champion, will meet Western States Football League champion Snow College, the nation?s fourth-ranked team. The Carrier Dome Bowl is only one of two NJCAA bowls being hosted in a NCAA Division I facility.
ASA, enters the game with a 9-0 record. It will be the first-ever bowl game for the Avengers. The school started in 1985, known then as ?Advanced Software Analysis.? The college has since grown to more than 3,000 students, 20 programs of study and two campuses, in Manhattan and Brooklyn. Today, in addition to computers, ASA programs include healthcare, business and criminal justice.
Snow College is 10-1, its only loss coming Sept. 8, when it lost 47-30 to Georgia Military College in Milledgeville, Geo. Snow is making its 20th bowl appearance overall and 10th consecutive. Snow won the JUCO football national championship in 1985. Snow was founded in 1888 and is the oldest two-year college west of the Mississippi River. This year it has added new programs in natural resources, outdoor leadership & entrepreneurship and industrial echanics, as well as being approved for its first ever bachelor degree program, commercial music.
The Ephraim college decided earlier this year, along with its flagship sponsor Zion?s Bank, not to continue hosting the Top of the Mountain Bowl which the Badgers won six of the eight years it was held.
