Mesa Family Search Library offers genealogy help

The Mesa Family Search Library, also known as the Mesa Family History Center, has scheduled two free workshops and a free webinar to help people trace their family roots. Workshops are held at the center, 464 E. First Ave., Mesa.

FREE WORKSHOPS

Martha Hewett will discuss finding vital records such as birth and marriage certificates at 7 p.m. Wednesday.Hewett has specialized in researching such records for the last 25 years.

People wanting to find Italian records can hear Jeff Skousen at 7 p.m. Sept. 19.Skousen has been researching and translating Italian records since 1993. He has visited Italy several times and has access to the Comune (the civil registration records starting from 1809) of the microfilm for the Onciari (tax registers dictated by King Charles of Bourbon in the first half of the eighteenth century).

WEBINAR

A webinar titled "Ways and Tools for Documentation" will be held at 10 a.m. Sept. 17. Presentation materials will be available to download from www.mesafsl.org. Register at http://www.anymeeting.com/PIID=E056DC898347.

RECORDED PRESENTATIONS

Recorded presentations also are available on the center's website. Topics include, "Daughters of the American Revolution" ("Research in the State of Arizona Archives"), "Family Search Family Tree," "Online Resources," and "History of the 1940 Census" Information: 480-964-1200.
