COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Republicans in the Ohio House say there is no question that voters sent a message in November that they did not like a law limiting the collective bargaining rights of public workers.
Still, House Speaker William Batchelder told reporters Tuesday that he's interested in hearing from school superintendents, city managers, labor leaders and others about ways to better control costs during times of tight budgets.
Ohio voters rejected the new law 62 percent to 38 percent.
Batchelder said he has no idea what local officials or labor leaders would come up with, but he wants to know if there are any ideas.
The Medina Republican said he'd have to be careful about moving anything forward that would create confusion, because the collective bargaining law moved "awfully fast" considering its breadth.
